What Solar Really Costs in the UAE
Solar Oasis prices every system all-in from your electricity charge. The calculator gives your price; below is the logic behind it, so you can check any quote, ours included.

For homes
Solar prices are hard to find before a site visit, and we think that's why people take months to decide. So the calculator above shows an indicative all-in price for your bill, and here is what each size suits and makes. Your own number comes as a fixed quote after a free assessment.

From-prices for homes
Systems from 6 kWp in every emirate.
- Northern EmiratesAjman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah≈6 kWp from AED 26,500 excl. VAT
- Dubai≈15 kWp from AED 58,000 excl. VAT
- Abu Dhabi≈20 kWp from AED 72,500 excl. VAT
- Sharjah≈6 kWp from AED 26,500 excl. VAT
What each size suits and makes
- 6 kWpTownhouse or small villa · ≈9,720–10,266 kWh a year
- 10 kWp3–4 bedroom villa · ≈16,200–17,110 kWh a year
- 15 kWpLarge villa (typical Dubai roof) · ≈24,300–25,665 kWh a year
- 20 kWpVery large villa · ≈32,400–34,220 kWh a year
- 30 kWp+Full villa roof and larger · ≈48,600–51,330 kWh a year
30 kWp is a typical villa roof. More roof? We can fit more panels. UAE villa yield is about 1,620–1,711 kWh per kWp per year with tilted panels, depending on emirate. Add-ons priced separately: carport structures, pergolas, batteries where permitted.
For businesses
From 25 kWp to 1 MWp+, sized to your site: your daytime load, your roof and your utility's rules set the size. The calculator above gives an indicative price for your own charge; your proposal is a fixed quote after a free assessment.
- 25 kWpShop, office or workshop · ≈38–40 MWh a year
- 100 kWpWarehouse, school or showroom · ≈152–160 MWh a year
- 250 kWpFactory or cold store · ≈379–401 MWh a year
- 500 kWpLarge plant or logistics roof · ≈759–801 MWh a year
- 1 MWp+Industrial estate, priced per site · ≈1,517–1,602 MWh a year
Business yield is about 1,517–1,602 kWh per kWp per year on a flat roof, depending on emirate. Systems above 500 kWp are priced per site.
Estimate only: the final price can be lower or higher depending on your site. Your fixed price comes in your proposal, after your site survey. EtihadWE sizes are subject to 10% of your connected load. Indicative, for a typical system. Assumes about 1,620–1,711 kWh per kWp a year for homes (tilted panels) and 1,517–1,602 for businesses, depending on emirate, published utility tariffs (as of September 2026) rising 3% a year, panel output falling 1% in year 1 and 0.4% a year after, and the electricity charge or kWh you enter (not water, sewerage or housing fees). Savings are a share of the electricity charge, shown with VAT as on your bill. Prices excl. VAT; home paybacks include the 5% VAT a household pays. Utility approvals included; municipality fees and NOCs excluded. Your survey-based proposal is fixed.
What changes the price of a solar system?
Six levers, so you can read any quote, ours included.
- 01
System size
The biggest lever: a bigger system costs more in total, and the roof sets how big a system can be.
- 02
Panel and inverter class
Every proposal names the panel and inverter used; a suspiciously cheap quote usually hides its component brands. Ask any bidder to name theirs.
- 03
Roof complexity
Flat concrete with easy access is baseline; tiles, height, long cable runs, or structural reinforcement add honest cost.
- 04
Mounting structure
The frame that holds the panels: ballasted frames on flat roofs, fixings on tiled roofs, or raised structures that clear shade and parapets. Taller or heavier frames cost more.
- 05
Emirate and approvals
Each utility has its own approvals. Ours are inside the price; municipality fees and community NOCs are paid by the owner.
- 06
Structures
A carport or pergola is a building plus a solar system; both halves are listed in your proposal.
How are the savings worked out?
The same engine as the calculator above, on DEWA's published tariff as of September 2026.
A Dubai villa with an average monthly electricity charge of AED 1,500:
AED 1,401
back every month, at today's tariff
- as much as a typical villa roof holds
- 30 kWp
- a year, before tariff rises
- AED 16,812
How: the monthly electricity charge you give us (the electricity part of the bill; water, sewerage and housing fees are not touched by solar), or your kWh, is walked back down DEWA's slabs to a monthly consumption, Shams Dubai net metering lets the villa size to its whole consumption, up to a typical roof (about 30 kWp), every displaced unit is valued at its slab rate plus fuel surcharge and VAT, and 3% yearly tariff rises are counted against panel ageing.
A Dubai business with an average monthly electricity charge of AED 25,000, on DEWA's commercial slabs:
AED 24,989
back every month, at today's tariff, incl. VAT
- the system your electricity calls for
- 431 kWp
- a year, before tariff rises
- AED 299,868
How: the charge (the electricity part of the bill, not water or fees), or your kWh, is walked back down DEWA's commercial slabs to a monthly consumption; Shams Dubai net metering lets the system size to that consumption, up to 1 MW per plot; every displaced unit is valued at its slab rate plus fuel surcharge; and 3% yearly tariff rises are counted against panel ageing. A business recovers VAT, so its payback runs on the saving before VAT.

The model runs over 30 years. The same logic runs in every proposal with your real numbers (bill, tariff, roof) before you sign anything. And if your consumption is too low for solar to make sense, the proposal says exactly that.
Assumptions and VAT basis: under the sizes above.
Commercial pricing
- Commercial and industrial systems are quoted per project; larger sites are priced per site.
- For larger businesses in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, payback is typically 3–4 years. It depends on your usage.
- Proposals include capital cost, a production model, tariff-based savings, payback, and a 30-year cash flow: bankable numbers your CFO can interrogate.
Ways to pay
Buy outright
Buy the system outright and own it, and its savings, from day one.
PPA (power purchase agreement)
Pay for the solar power the system produces instead of buying the system.
Lease-to-own
Fixed monthly payments over an agreed term, and the system becomes yours at the end.
Your own bank
Prefer to finance through your own bank? We prepare the documents your bank asks for.
PPA and lease-to-own are arranged per project; terms depend on the system and eligibility. Ask us.
