What does electricity cost in Ras Al Khaimah?
The rates as EtihadWE publishes them. The higher your bill, the more of it sits on the top steps, and those are the units a daytime system takes off first.

RAK has an industrial base of cement, ceramics and pharmaceuticals, villas from the coast to the mountains, and farms inland. Some of our first systems went live here.

Industry
RAK's cement, ceramics and manufacturing base carries large daytime loads and big roof areas: C&I solar at the scale RAK industry expects.
Villas & communities
Al Hamra Village, Mina Al Arab, Khuzam, and the family districts inland: residential solar sized to real AC loads.
Hospitality
beach resorts and the Jebel Jais tourism corridor, where sustainability is now part of the brochure.
Farms & remote properties
date farms and mountain-foothill properties where off-grid designs replace generator noise with silence.
How solar works in RAK
What are Ras Al Khaimah electricity rates?
EtihadWE's expat residential and commercial rates rise with use, from 23 to 38 fils per kWh, plus a 5 fils fuel surcharge; industry pays a flat 40 fils per kWh, with its own 4 fils fuel surcharge. Expat-tariff accounts with summer AC loads see the northern-emirates standard: savings that depend on your usage, calculated from your actual bill before you commit. Your bill, tariff and roof decide the saving; the calculator shows yours.

Distributed Solar Systems (DSS) standards
In Ras Al Khaimah, systems are zero-export, with hybrid (battery) and off-grid options.
Future-ready for net metering
EtihadWE does not offer net metering today. We build every system to its DSS standards, so if a net-metering policy is introduced, the system can be connected without being rebuilt.
The three system types in Ras Al Khaimah
Zero-export
Offsets your daytime consumption.
Hybrid, with a battery
Stores daytime solar so you also save in the evening and at night.
Hybrid systems switch automatically between solar, battery and grid with an ATS (automatic transfer switch).
Off-grid
Runs completely off the grid: the battery covers the night, and an optional generator covers any shortfall.
6 am8 amnoon5 pm7 pm
Businesses that run mostly in the daytime (typically around 8 am to 5 pm) use most of their solar as it's produced, which is where zero export saves the most.
1 MW
Grid-connected systems are capped at 1 MW under DEWA and EtihadWE rules; off-grid systems have no such cap.*
* Under EtihadWE's DSS, the 10% of connected load (max 1,000 kW) is a ceiling, not the system size.
Engineering notes for RAK
RAK spans microclimates: humid coast, dusty plain, cooler mountain foothills. Mounting specs, soiling assumptions, and cleaning schedules are set per site, not per emirate. Wadi-adjacent and foothill sites get wind-load attention; coastal sites get hardware specified for salt air where needed.
Outside Dubai, systems are zero-export, with hybrid (battery) and off-grid options. Every system is designed to EtihadWE's current rules. Installation is by our team.
There is no cash subsidy for a rooftop system: the incentive is the saving on your bill, and we show you yours at assessment.
Cement-to-ceramics scale daytime loads and large roofs suit solar. Send twelve months of bills and we'll model it.
Yes. For remote foothill or farm sites, full off-grid designs can replace diesel, and grid-connected sites can go hybrid with a battery.

Send one Ras Al Khaimah bill: we work out the size, the saving and the steps with your utility, in one proposal. Or WhatsApp us your bill and a real person reads it.
